Referral program
The referral program lets an account owner share one stable link and see whether new accounts become paying customers. It is a measurement-first pilot: the app tracks attribution and current customer status, but it does not create an earnings balance or pay commissions yet.
Before you start
- You must be an account owner or admin.
- You need a reason to recommend MyChatBot and a place to share the link, such as an email signature, a customer community, or a direct conversation.
Create and share your link
- Open MyChatBot Account Settings.
- Choose Referral program. If this is your first visit, click Create my link.
- Copy Your referral link and share it where the recommendation is relevant.
Your account keeps one stable link. You can share it more than once; creating the link again does not create a second partner record.
What happens after someone clicks
The link opens MyChatBot's signup flow. The referral code is carried through email confirmation or Google sign-in. When the new account is provisioned, MyChatBot records one attribution to the referring account.
- A visitor can click more than once. Link visits is an aggregate count and includes repeat visits; it is not a unique-visitor count.
- A new account is attributed once. The attribution is not changed by later clicks.
- Existing accounts are not added retroactively.
- Self-referrals are rejected.
- If tracking is unavailable, signup continues. The referral may be missing from the dashboard rather than blocking account creation.
Read the dashboard
The Referral program page shows:
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Link visits | Total recorded visits to the public referral link, including repeats |
| Signups | New accounts currently attributed to your link |
| Active customers | Attributed accounts with a current, non-trial paid subscription |
| Current level | The pilot level based on active referred customers |
| Referred accounts | Attributed accounts with their current status and signup date |
Account status is current. A referred account can be Signed up, In trial, or an Active customer; the page does not show a lifetime billing history.
Current pilot levels
The page displays these pilot reference rates based on active referred customers:
| Active referred customers | Level | Reference rate |
|---|---|---|
| 0–9 | 1 | 15% |
| 10–20 | 2 | 20% |
| 21 or more | 3 | 30% |
These percentages describe the current pilot terms shown in the app. They do not mean that money has been earned or is payable. The pilot currently has no automatic commission calculation, payout request, refund or chargeback policy, or earnings ledger.
How to use the numbers
Use the dashboard to answer three early growth questions:
- Are people clicking the link?
- Are clicks turning into new accounts?
- Are those accounts reaching a paid subscription and staying active?
Compare visits → signups and signups → active customers over time. If the loop has volume, the next release can define a versioned commission policy and a billing-event ledger. If it does not, improve the sharing message and onboarding before adding payout complexity.
Troubleshooting
- The link is missing: return to Account Settings → Referral program and click Create my link.
- A signup is not listed: confirm that the person used the referral link for a new account and completed email confirmation or Google sign-in. Existing accounts are not backfilled, and a tracking outage can leave an attribution missing.
- The active count is zero: an account in a trial or without a current paid subscription is not counted as an active customer.
- The rate has not changed: levels use active referred customers, not total clicks or total signups. Refresh after the referred account's subscription status changes.
