  4. Confirm the connected business (WABA) and phone number appear, then turn on Connect agent to this channel.

TIP

No WhatsApp Business account yet? You can create one inline during the embedded signup flow β€” no need to set it up beforehand.

Which WhatsApp channel?

MyChatBot offers two different WhatsApp channels. Pick the one that matches your setup.

ChannelWhat it isBest for
WhatsAppOfficial WhatsApp Business Platform, connected through WhatsApp's embedded signupBusinesses that want an official Business account, templates, and voice replies
Personal WhatsAppLinks your own phone's WhatsApp by scanning a QR code (like adding a linked device)Quick start with an existing personal number

This page covers the official WhatsApp channel. For the QR-code option, open the Personal WhatsApp channel instead.

Start the connection

  1. Go to Channels and select the agent you want to connect.
  2. Open the WhatsApp channel.
  3. Click Connect WhatsApp.

Authorize your WhatsApp Business account

Clicking Connect WhatsApp opens WhatsApp's embedded signup:

  1. Sign in and select your existing WhatsApp Business account, or follow the prompts to create one.
  2. Complete the authorization steps.
  3. You're returned to the MyChatBot dashboard.

Once authorized, the panel shows your connected business account (WABA) name and its phone number, and the button changes to Revoke token.

Configure settings

After connecting, tune how your agent behaves in WhatsApp.

SettingWhat it doesWhen to use
Reply Delay (s)Waits this many seconds after a customer message before the agent repliesMakes conversations feel more human and lets customers finish a multi-message thought
Voice reply to voice messageWhen on, the agent answers voice notes with a voice replyCustomers who prefer talking over typing
Voice (Select voice)Picks the voice used for voice repliesMatch your brand's tone; preview before choosing

TIP

The Voice dropdown is only active when Voice reply to voice message is turned on.

Message templates

WhatsApp requires pre-set message templates for certain business-initiated messages (for example, reaching out after the standard messaging window has closed). Create and manage these under the WhatsApp templates section of the channel.

ActionWhere
Create a templateCreate template β†’ enter a Template Name and Message Content
Edit a templateSelect it from the list β†’ Edit
Delete a templateSelect it β†’ Delete

TIP

Give each template a clear name so your agent (and your team) can tell them apart at a glance.

Activate the integration

  1. Confirm the connected business account and phone number are shown.
  2. Turn on Connect agent to this channel.

Your agent now handles customer messages through WhatsApp. To pause it, switch the toggle off. To fully disconnect, click Revoke token.

WARNING

Revoke token disconnects the WhatsApp Business account from MyChatBot. You'll need to run the embedded signup again to reconnect.

Personal WhatsApp (QR-code channel)

The separate Personal WhatsApp channel links your own phone's WhatsApp as a linked device β€” no Business account needed.

The Personal WhatsApp connect panel: enter your number, Get QR code, then scan it from WhatsApp β†’ Linked devices to pair

Connect it:

  1. Open Channels β†’ your agent β†’ Personal WhatsApp.
  2. In the Phone Number field, enter your number in international format (e.g., +1 212 555 0123) and click Get QR code. Generating the code may take up to 2 minutes or more.
  3. On your phone, open WhatsApp β†’ Settings β†’ Linked devices β†’ Link a device β†’ Link with QR code, and scan the QR shown in MyChatBot. If the code looks stale, click Refresh QR.
  4. Watch the status block. While the status isn't Authorized, the Connect agent toggle stays disabled.
  5. Once Authorized, turn on Connect agent to this channel (webhook setup runs automatically). Use Revoke channel to remove the connection at any time.
