Connecting Your Telegram Account
This guide explains how to connect your personal Telegram account to a MyChatbot agent using MTProto protocol.
Overview
Unlike Telegram bots, connecting your personal Telegram account allows your agent to interact directly through your existing Telegram account. This provides a more personalized experience and allows your agent to access conversations in your existing account.
Step-by-Step Connection Process
- Navigate to the Channels tab in your MyChatbot dashboard
- Select the agent you want to connect to your Telegram account
- Find and click on the Telegram account tab
- Click on Add Telegram account
Setting Up Your Account Connection
- Enter a name for the account connection (e.g., "Main Account", "Business Account")
- Enter your phone number associated with your Telegram account
- Make sure to include the country code (e.g., +44 for UK)
- If you have password set up in your telegram account you should enter it, if not - just put any word
- Click Continue to proceed
Authentication Process
- After submitting your information, you will receive an authentication request in your Telegram app
- Approve the authentication request in your Telegram app
- Upon successful authentication, the dashboard will show "Connected" status
- Toggle the switch to turn the connection on
Important Notes
- Unlike webhook-based channels (like Telegram bots), Telegram account connections have a different message processing system
- There is typically a 30-40 second delay for message processing
- When someone messages your Telegram account, your agent will read and respond to the message automatically
- Your agent will have access to read messages in your account and send responses
